Sierra’s snowy white draws fans of its cold fun
Valley families and others just curious headed to Shaver Lake and other Sierra spots Monday to play in the snow.
In the winterlike scene of white, they threw snowballs, made snowmen and enjoyed the quiet solitude experienced too infrequently in recent dry falls and winters.
Daytime temperatures will warm into the 50s at Shaver Lake on Tuesday and Wednesday before falling into the low 30s at night.
Across the central San Joaquin Valley, a freeze warning was issued for early Tuesday morning for Hanford, Lemoore, Selma, Caruthers and other low-lying areas, with temperatures potentially dipping as low as 28 degrees, the National Weather Service said.
In Fresno, overnight lows will be in the upper 30s to low 40s through Wednesday night. Daytime highs will reach the upper 50s Tuesday, and low to mid 60s Wednesday through Sunday, the weather service said.
