Ron Orozco, a former reporter for The Bee, and radio announcer Bill Woodward are the latest entries into the Fresno State Mass Communication and Journalism Hall of Fame.

The pair were inducted Thursday in a ceremony that also recognized six industry leaders as Mass Communication and Journalism fellows.

Orozco worked at The Bee for 41 years, first as a sports reporter and then in features. When he retired in March, Orozco covered the Valley’s religion scene. He has also worked part-time as a MSJ professor at Fresno State.

Woodward worked for radio station KMJ and was its voice of the Bulldogs when he covered various sports teams.

Industry leaders honored as fellows were: Jill Wagner, public relations; Derek Franks, general manager of the Fresno Grizzlies Triple A baseball squad; Mark Mirko, photojournalist; Oscar Speace, playwright and producer-director; Soma Norodom, journalist and social entrepreneur; and Mark Grossi, who recently retired from The Bee as environmental beat reporter.

Thirty Fresno State students were also to receive scholarships at the reception.
