Madera County recruiting for search and rescue team
Madera County is accepting applications for its search and rescue team.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old, and applications will be excepted until Dec. 31.
The Madera County Sheriff’s Office said that applicants don’t need to have experience.
Applicants accepted into the program will undergo a 100-hour class and field training course that covers the following: incident command system, SAR crime scene awareness, land navigation, basic rope rescue, helicopter safety, radio communications, search technique, first aid/CPR, tracking and basic survival.
Applications can be picked up and dropped off at either the Sheriff’s Office at 2725 Falcon Drive in Madera or the Sheriff’s Substation at 48267 Liberty Drive in Oakhurst.
