Open house set for Ball Ranch along San Joaquin River

The San Joaquin River Parkway and Conservation Trust, in partnership with REI, will be holding an open house at Ball Ranch on Saturday.

Admission is free, and visitors will be able to access the property, which is not currently open to the public, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There will be two guided nature walks at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., a fly fishing demonstration at 11:30 a.m. and a brown bag lunch presentation on “The Wilderness Adventures of John Muir” by re-enactor Frank Helling.

Visitors are invited to hike, bike, fish and bird while exploring the property and are encouraged to bring water, snacks and binoculars.

To get to Ball Ranch from Highway 41, take the Friant Road exit and head north. Ball Ranch is one mile beyond Willow Avenue. Pass the Cemex plant, Ball Ranch is on the left.
