Four people were sent to the hospital after inhaling smoke during an early Sunday morning fire inside their northeast Fresno apartment.
Fresno Fire Department arrived at Kings Court Apartments at 5322 N. Sixth St., just west of Fresno State, just after 2:30 a.m. By that time, everyone was out of the building.
The two-alarm fire required five engines, two trucks and a battalion chief. The extent of injuries, cause of the fire and damages remains undetermined.
Fire Capt. John Creasy asked that residents check their smoke alarms to make sure they’re working and ensure there is a smoke detector in each bedroom and hallway. He said two-thirds of fire-related deaths happen where there are no working smoke detectors.
