Caltrans increases hours for Highway 41 ramp meter signals

Ramp-metering signal lights controlling the flow of traffic from on-ramps to Highway 41 in Fresno will begin running throughout the day, not just during the morning and evening rush hours, starting Wednesday.

California Department of Transportation will begin operating the metering signals continuously Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the on-ramps from McKinley Avenue to Shaw Avenue. Currently, the lights are active on weekdays from 7 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 6 p.m.

Metering lights allow either one or two vehicles for each green light to control how many vehicles move onto the freeway to reduce congestion.
