Kimberly A. Gaab will be the new presiding judge for Fresno County Superior Court.
Gaab will begin her new position on Jan. 1, 2016.
The presiding judge, with the assistance of the court executive officer, is responsible for leading the court, establishing policies and allocating resources in a manner that promotes access to justice for all members of the public, Fresno County Superior Court said.
Gaab selected Judge Alan M. Simpson as her assistant.

Gaab was appointed to the Fresno County Superior Court in 2008 by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and has served as a member of the court’s executive committee since 2012.
She is the current assistant presiding judge of the court.
