A coyote was seen in central Fresno on Saturday, the Police Department said.
The call came in around 7 p.m. Someone saw the animal near Cedar and Shields avenues, and it apparently looked startled.
Officers had not yet arrived on the scene to look for the animal.
Coyotes are plentiful in the foothills and forests surrounding the Valley’s cities, but it is uncommon for them to venture so far into a metropolitan area.
