A prescribed burn is planned at Yosemite National Park, officials announced Thursday.
Fire managers said the prescribed burn is expected to take place before Wednesday and will occur in the Mariposa Grove of giant sequoias or along the Wawona Road near the south entrance of the park. The final decision will be based on weather and air quality conditions.
The Mariposa Grove is currently closed for a major restoration project, and fire managers hope to complete the prescribed burn during the closure to prevent further interruption to park visitors.
