UPDATE: Caltrans announced Thursday that it was postponing the work planned for overnight Thursday. No new date has been set.
Original story: Caltrans and contractor Papich Construction will shut down the northbound lanes of Highway 99 near Visalia overnight Thursday for crews to install overhead freeway signs.
The work will close Highway 99 north between Caldwell Avenue and Highway 198 from 11 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday.
A detour will take drivers off the highway at Caldwell Avenue, route them east to Shirk Street, north to Highway 198 and then west on 198 back onto Highway 99.
Prior to the full closure, northbound traffic on Highway 99 will be reduced to one lane starting at 7 p.m. Thursday.
