The Big Fresno Fair’s Save Mart and FoodMaxx “Feed the Need” Community Food Drive effort resulted in 135.84 tons of food donated, bringing the seven-year total to nearly 580 tons of food collected to feed those in need.
Fair patrons who brought five or more cans of food or other non-perishable food items Thursday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. received free fair admission.
The Fresno State Student Cupboard Food Drive Challenge, a Corporate Donation Outreach Initiative and an Early Food Drive also contributed to the total collected this year.
The success of the “Feed the Need” Community Food Drive over the past seven years is attributed to an increase in donations from local businesses and individuals during this time of need.
