Soccer festival planned for Make a Difference Day in Fresno
A free soccer festival Saturday in Fresno will mark Make a Difference Day, an annual, nationwide celebration of community service.
Thousands of children from local soccer leagues will join coaches and families in the youth soccer festival scheduled 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Chukchansi Park.
Volunteers from the Fresno City College women’s soccer team, San Joaquin Memorial High School, Walmart, and Fresno City College students, as well as individuals from the community, will help with the event. It’s hosted by Fresno City Councilman Steve Brandau.
Volunteers will provide drinks, snacks and lunch for the leagues and their families.
Saturday is also California Conservation Corps Volunteer Day statewide. Locally, corpsmembers from the Fresno Satellite Center will assist in invasive plant removal at Spano River Ranch.
