Man killed in collision with tree near Kerman identified

A man killed when his car swerved off the road Monday morning and collided with a tree near Kerman was identified by the Fresno County coroner as Jose Martinez Avalos, 55, of Kerman.

The California Highway Patrol said Martinez Avalos was driving a 1993 Honda Civic at a high speed when he crashed into an almond orchard near American and Lake avenues.
