Man killed by train in central Fresno
A man was struck and killed by a train early Monday morning in central Fresno, police reported.
The incident took place at 6:41 a.m., north of the railroad crossing on Palm Avenue at Dakota avenues. Lt. Joe Gomez said a railroad conductor reported seeing the man lying across the tracks. The train was unable to stop in time and the man died upon impact. He has not been identified.
The tracks were blocked for several hours at Palm and Dakota and also at Princeton and Maroa avenues. Amtrak officials could not be reached for information about the delays.
