Fresno park to be named in honor of community leader
Sunset Park in west Fresno will be renamed in honor of George R. Marcus Jr., a longtime director of the Fresno Metropolitan Flood Control District’s board.
The naming ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Sunset Park, 940 W. Eden Ave.
A granite monument with bronze plaque will be unveiled during the ceremony to honor Marcus, who served on the board from 1992 to 2010.
Marcus is remembered for his contributions to the economic health, safety, and success of the community. He died April 23, 2013.
