Tulare Co. fair closes with record numbers
Attendance at the 2015 Tulare County Fair jumped from a year earlier, and the junior livestock and dairy replacement auctions hit a new record of over $1 million, the fair said Tuesday.
Attendance was 117,679, up 12.2%, and the carnival was up 5.3% to an all-time high in revenue. Food and beverage sales were up 22%.
The five-day fair ended Sunday.
“This dramatic turnaround proves that the Tulare County Fair is valued and appreciated,” said Pamela Fyock, chief executive officer. “We’re grateful to the sponsors, the volunteers and all the people who came out to enjoy a beautiful day at the fair.”
Auctions generated $1.13 million, which goes back to youth to support their animal projects.
The fair continues to adjust to the loss of state funding, Fyock said.
The next big improvement project will be replacing livestock pens and misters. The Tulare County Fair Foundation is working to raise $350,000, and can be reached at (559) 686-4707.
