NEA chair Jane Chu visits with local art teachers, leaders and students

Jane Chu, chair of the National Endowment for the Arts, met with local art teachers and leaders, and listened to a performance by members of Youth Orchestras of Fresno during a visit to the Fresno Art Museum Monday.

The art museum gathering was part of a two-day tour of the Fresno area for Chu. She kicked off her visit to Fresno on Sunday with a public town hall at Arte Américas discussing the importance of art and getting a taste of Fresno’s local arts culture. On Monday, she met privately with Radio Bilingüe, Centro Binacional para el Desarrollo Indígena Oaxaqueño (Binational Center for the Development of the Indigenous Communities) and Youth Orchestras of Fresno.

David Mas Masumoto, an organic farmer from Del Rey and member of the National Council on the Arts, invited Chu to the Valley.
