Motorcyclist hit by truck on Fresno’s Blackstone Avenue, dies at hospital
Fresno police are investigating a fatal motorcycle versus truck crash in central Fresno that occurred Monday morning .
Witnesses say a motorcycle carrying a man and a woman was stuck by a truck on Blackstone Avenue between Princeton and Shields avenues.
Police Lt. Joe Gomez said the motorcycle was traveling northbound on Blackstone when a truck crossing westbound on Cornell hit it around 8:30 a.m.
Two passengers – a 54-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman – were on the motorcycle. Gomez said the man’s injuries were serious and he died shortly after arriving at Community Regional Medical Center.
The woman’s injuries are not life-threatening, Gomez said.
The 42-year-old driver of the Chevrolet Silverado was uninjured.
Preliminary findings are that the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed, Gomez said – possibly 70 mph. The Chevrolet driver was headed west on Cornell to a gas station, and did not see the motorcycle enter the intersection, Gomez said.
