Three people were displaced after a fire destroyed their home in southeast Fresno Sunday around 2 a.m.

Firefighters arrived at the home at 3260 E. Washington Ave., near Belmont Avenue and First Street, after callers said the home was engulfed in flames, said Battalion Chief Thomas Cope.

It took firefighters 2  1/2 hours to put out the fire and mop up, Cope said. Fresno police assisted with traffic control.

The Red Cross was called in to assist the occupants.
