2 hurt in head-on collision near Yosemite
Two drivers sustained major injuries in a head-on collision north of Midpines near Yosemite National Park on Thursday, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The crash occurred about 5:30 a.m. on Highway 140. The CHP said Richie Nocol, 27, of Aberdeen, Scotland, was driving westbound in the eastbound lane in a rented Chevrolet. He collided with Sterling Johnson, 77, of Mariposa, who was eastbound in a Honda. Both drivers were trapped in the wreckage until removed by emergency workers and taken to hospitals.
