Man shot in leg in central Fresno

Police are investigating the shooting of a man Friday morning near Clark Street and Clay avenue in central Fresno.

The incident took place about 11:27 in the neighborhood near the main cross streets of Blackstone and Olive avenues. Lt. Joe Gomez said initial information was that the 19-year-old victim was walking to a store when he was confronted by an armed suspect who demanded money. When the victim said he he did not have cash, he was struck in the head with the gun and shot in the leg. The victim ran to a friend’s home and police were called.
