Two drivers killed in Millerton crash identified

The Fresno County Coroner Tuesday identified two people killed in a head-on collision early Monday east of Clovis.

The crash took place about 7:05 a.m. near Millerton Road west of Winchell Cove.

The California Highway Patrol said Desiree Rodriguez, 23, of Fresno was westbound on Millerton in a 2006 Chrysler when she drove into the eastbound lane and collided with a 2001 Ford pickup driven by Manuel Avila Salazar, 55, of Fresno. Both drivers died at the scene.

Juan Ruiz, 51, of Fresno, a passenger in the pickup, was taken to Community Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
