Heat spell predicted in Valley through next weekend

Following a week of milder weather, Fresnans should prepare for triple-digit temperatures by Wednesday.

The National Weather Service in Hanford says temperatures in the San Joaquin Valley are expected to warm up this week, with Wednesday through Saturday looking like the hottest days.

In Fresno, meteorologist Jim Andersen said the 100s will continue through Sunday: 101 degrees Wednesday, 102 Thursday, 103 Friday, 102 Saturday and 100 Sunday. The lows will hang around the upper 60s to low 70s through that period.

Andersen said there might be a bit of a light breeze, but it won’t be windy. Conditions will be mostly clear and sunny with maybe a few high clouds later in the week.

In the middle of the Valley, there are areas that could see temperatures as high as 107 degrees this week. But Andersen said he wouldn’t be surprised if temperatures remain lower than that because of how late in the year it is.

Oakhurst will see highs of 100 degrees Thursday and Friday. The foothills are also expected to get temperatures in the 100s.
