Union Park unveiled at fairgrounds during annual Labor Day breakfast

Valley labor leaders cut the ribbon Monday on Union Park at the Fresno Fairgrounds Pavilion.

The grand opening came during the 30th annual Labor Day breakfast organized by the Fresno-Madera-Tulare-Kings Central Labor Council, the Fresno-Madera-Tulare-Kings Building Trades Council and the Fresno Area Coalition of Organized Labor.

Active and retired members of police and fire unions cooked eggs, sausages and pancakes, and local elected officials and candidates served the food. The event also included a blood drive for injured Fresno Fire Capt. Pete Dern.

Union Park and a Workers Memorial both honor workers injured or killed on the job.
