2 killed in Labor Day crash near Millerton Lake

The California Highway Patrol is investigating an accident that killed two people Monday morning near Millerton Lake.

Only the last names of the victims were available late Monday from the CHP. A 23-year-old named Rodriguez was driving a Chrysler that veered into the other lane, hitting a Ford F350 driven by a 54-year-old man named Salazar. Both drivers were killed. A passenger in the Ford, a 51-year-old man named Ruiz, received minor to moderate injuries and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center.

The crash happened just after 7 a.m. on Millerton Road at Winchell Cove Road. The roadway was blocked until about 11 a.m.

No other details were immediately available.
