Man hit by train in central Fresno, dies in apparent suicide
A man died Friday afternoon after police say he stood on railroad tracks “with open arms” as a train approached in central Fresno.
Fresno police Lt. Joe Gomez said the man, who was not identified pending notification of his family, died instantly at 1 p.m. The death was ruled a suicide.
The train blocked traffic on West Avenue from Emerson Avenue to Rialto Avenue for several hours during the investigation.
