The 3-year-old boy rushed to the hospital Thursday after he was found unresponsive in an indoor swimming pool has died, Clovis police said.

Clovis Police Department spokeswoman Janet Stoll-Lee said the boy died at Valley Children’s Hospital overnight.

Police officers responded to a 911 call about an unresponsive toddler at Swim America at 1205 N. Willow Ave., off Nees Avenue in Clovis.

Officers helped administer CPR until an ambulance transported the boy to St. Agnes Medical Center. He was transferred to Valley Children’s and was alive but unconscious as of Thursday night.

Clovis police are looking into the incident. Stoll-Lee said no other information was available as of noon Friday.

Fresno County sheriff’s spokesman Tony Botti said the Coroner’s Office is working to determine how the boy died.

A recording on the Swim America phone system indicated all classes had been canceled and the facility closed Friday “because of an incident yesterday.”
