An “adventure camp” for fathers and sons became startlingly and unforgettably real when the Rough fire began to bear down on Hume Lake Christian Camps.

The event was scheduled for the weekend of Aug. 22-23. But the fire near Kings Canyon National Park had forced an evacuation of the camp. A small support staff stayed behind.

In this video, posted originally on the Hume Lake camp’s Facebook, three sets of fathers and sons talk about the unexpected and tranformative adventure that unfolded.

If this last weekend had gone according to our own plans, we would have run our Father Son Adventure Camp.Instead, these 3 Fathers and their sons had a very different Father Son Adventure than expected.
