Fresno-area men hurt in Paso Robles crash

Two Fresno-area men suffered major injuries when a pickup truck drove into the back of a semi tractor trailer early Saturday morning.

Around 6:10 a.m. two men were driving west on Highway 46 at Golden Hill Road in Paso Robles, when they ran into the back of the truck, according to Sgt. Steve Lampe of the Paso Robles Police Department.

Both the pickup driver, a 57-year-old man from Fresno, and passenger, a 57-year-old man from Clovis, were taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo with major injuries.

The driver of the big rig was not hurt.

Lampe said investigators determined that the pickup driver fell asleep at the wheel.

As of Sunday morning, both men were still being treated at the hospital.

Names have not yet been released.
