One dead in fire near Fowler

A fatal fire north of Fowler on Thursday is being investigated by Fresno County Sheriff’s detectives.

Fresno County Fire Protection District investigators say the fire at Clayton Avenue and Golden State Boulevard remains under investigation.

Sheriff’s spokesman Tony Botti said a deputy was first on the scene and was told by a witness that someone was inside the trailer when the fire ignited.

He said detectives are investigating in case the fire was intentionally set. At this point, he said, there is no proof that it was arson.
