An 84-year-old Madera County woman died Wednesday, two days after she was injured in a single-vehicle crash.

Officers responded at 11:50 a.m. Monday to Road 209, south of Road 406 in Madera County.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 63-year-old Madera man was driving a gray 2020 Kia Forte north on Road 209 when, while approaching a curve, the vehicle veered off the roadway onto the west shoulder and struck an embankment.

The driver suffered minor injuries. His passenger, 84-year-old Billie Baker of Madera County, was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where she died Wednesday, according to the Madera County Coroner’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation.

CHP said both occupants were wearing seat belts. Investigators do not suspect drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
