A Fresno home with a picturesque, lakefront view and direct access to the waterway from its backyard has hit the market.
Located not just within the Woodward Lake community in northeast Fresno — but on the actual lake — the home on 541 E. Chesapeake Circle offers a rare opportunity to own a house within the Fresno city limits, and enjoy resort-like living, as well as panoramic views of the lake and the Sierras.
The asking price for this 4,197-square foot home, with five bedrooms and five bathrooms on 0.28 acres of land: $1,399,000.
“Waterfront homes in Fresno are definitely scarce,” said Rod Aluisi, the listing real estate agent of the Chesapeake home. “One that’s this special just doesn’t come up very often — a home that offers a lot of opportunity for relaxation and entertainment.
“It’s just an amazing property. You’re looking to the east from the home, so when the sun sets on the west, the guys on the other side of the lake have to close up their blinds. But the people who live in this home, they can really enjoy the views, the feeling of a lake.”
While this Chesapeake home was custom-built in 1990, the Woodward Lake community has been around since 1985 and once was considered the “crown jewel” of Fresno real estate.
Spread across 414 acres, the Woodward Lake community comprises 1,158 single family homes with 201 houses being waterfront properties along the man-made lake.
Woodward Lake itself is 54 acres, features a fountain in the middle, and allows residents the opportunity to fish and boat. Jet skis and other high-speed motorized vessels are prohibited.
There’s also a recreational facility within the community that includes a clubhouse, junior Olympic pool, tennis courts and basketball court.
“The good thing about Woodward Lake is the water passageway is wide, so there’s a lot of room to play out on the water — kayak, paddle boat,” Aluisi said. “Everyone will want to party at your house.
“What’s also pretty cool is you’re still in the middle of town. Shopping, golfing, restaurants, they’re all still close by.”
According to real estate data from Zillow, 20 lakefront homes at Woodward Lake have sold since August 2023, including 11 houses since March 2025.
At the moment, the Chesapeake house is the only lakefront property for sale in Fresno or Clovis.
There were a couple of homes on the market that offered lake views from a distance, as well as an undeveloped lot with a lakefront view at Quail Lake in east Clovis.
Among other features of the Chesapeake house comes are the wood beamed ceilings, built-in cherry cabinets, wood floors, granite countertops and tiled balconies.
The backyard and facing Woodward Lake, the home has a spa, fire pit and boat dock.
