According to the CHP, a Madera man was driving a green 2000 Toyota Tacoma north on Road 19, approaching the intersection at Avenue 18 1/2. A 40-year-old man from Chowchilla was driving a silver 2022 Hyundai Tucson, west on Avenue 18 1/2, approaching Road 19.

CHP said the Toyota driver failed to stop at the stop sign and entered the intersection, directly into the Hyundai’s path, causing the 25-year-old to be ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Hyundai driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries.
