The Fresno Chaffee Zoo is asking for help reuniting with Sarge, a military macaw missing for the past day.

Spokesperson Gia Krupens in an update Tuesday said Sarge is a free-flying parrot that veered off-course and ended up outside Roeding Park on Monday.

After nearby searches proved to be unfruitful, the zoo is turning to the community for help tracking down the bird.

Military macaws have bright green feathers with a small patch of red on their heads. Sarge is about 12 inches long and has one toenail on each foot.

Krupens advises that anyone who believes they have seen Sarge shouldn’t approach her and instead call the zoo’s 24-hour emergency line at 559-286-7403.

The Fresno Chaffee Zoo says Sarge, a free-flying parrot, flew off course and left Roeding Park.
