The California Highway Patrol said the crash happened at 3:30 a.m. on the southeast corner of Clovis and Jefferson avenues.

CHP spokesperson Mike Salas said the man was ejected after driving a Honda sedan southbound on Clovis, north of Jefferson. For unknown reasons, the driver allowed the vehicle to veer right and leave the roadway. The vehicle struck a pole and overturned into a vineyard.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Salas said it is unknown whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt. The crash is under investigation.
