Two people were killed in a two-vehicle head-on collision Friday in Kings County, the California Highway Patrol said.

The crash involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle was reported at 4:48 p.m. on State Route 43 south of Lansing Avenue between the cities of Hanford and Corcoran.

According to the CHP, a man was driving a 2014 Ram 1500 pickup truck south on State Route 43 south of Lansing Avenue at an undetermined speed. The pickup truck driver allowed his vehicle to cross into the northbound traffic lane, where it collided head-on with a 2017 Harley-Davidson motorcycle ridden by a man and a female passenger.

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger was taken by ambulance to Adventist Medical Center in Hanford, where she later died.

CHP said the driver of the Ram 1500 suffered major injuries and was taken to Kaweah Health Medical Center in Visalia.

The identities, ages and cities of residence of the driver of the pickup truck and the rider and passenger of the motorcycle were not released as of Monday.

It has not been determined if alcohol and/or drug use contributed to the crash, the CHP said. The collision remains under investigation.
