Two Clovis schools lift shelter-in-place orders after bomb threat investigation
Clovis Police have determined that a suspicious call for a bomb threat at Clovis High School on Thursday was not credible, according to Clovis Unified School District.
Clovis High School and nearby Clovis Elementary School were put under shelter-in-place orders around 1:50 p.m.
The high school received the call around 1:15 p.m., said police spokesperson Ty Wood, who confirmed the bomb threat came via an anonymous call.
The school district immediately activated all available Clovis Unified officers and requested the city’s police assistance. At one point, there were more than a dozen police officers from both agencies on the school grounds, Wood said.
The police department also used the Drone as First Responder (DFR), a drone system that provides immediate, automated aerial surveillance on scene, Wood said.
At around 3:10 p.m., the police completed the investigation and determined that the hoax call pose no threat to students, according to CUSD.
The district said Clovis High has returned to normal operations. Both the high school and the elementary school will release students on the normal schedule.
