Person hit and killed by BNSF train at central Fresno railway crossing

A person was killed after getting hit by a train in central Fresno on Wednesday night.

Officers gathered near Shields and Wishon avenues to investigate the crash, which BNSF Railway spokesperson Kendall Sloan said happened around 9:30 p.m.

The victim has not been identified, and it’s unclear what they were doing at the railway crossing.

Sloan said the crossing is equipped with gates, lights and bells.

No other injuries were reported.
