Two hospitalized after head-on crash in Fresno County; one driver arrested
Two men have been hospitalized following a head-on crash in Fresno County, and one is facing charges.
The California Highway Patrol responded to a crash at Manning and Temperance avenues, between Fowler and Selma, around 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Officers determined it was a head-on crash between a Hyundai Accent and a Ford Ranger.
A 60-year-old man was in the Hyundai traveling west on Manning Avenue when he drove into opposing traffic, CHP spokesperson Mike Salas said.
A 73-year-old man driving east in the Ford tried to avoid the car by swerving into the westbound lane. However, the Hyundai driver simultaneously swerved back into the same lane, prompting a head-on crash, Salas said.
Both drivers were taken to a hospital for minor-to-moderate injuries. The Hyundai driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and will be booked when he’s discharged from the hospital, Salas said.
The vehicles were heavily damaged, and the Ford landed upside down.
The crash is still under investigation.
