Two men were killed in a three-vehicle crash Wednesday night outside of Hanford near the Kings and Fresno county line, California Highway Patrol said.

The crash was reported at 11:07 p.m. Wednesday in the area of 12 3⁄4 Avenue, south of Douglas Avenue in rural Kings County. Emergency medical service and CHP officers responded to the scene.

According to the CHP, the male driver of a 2022 Dodge Charger was traveling north in the south lane of 12 3⁄4 Avenue, south of Douglas Avenue near the town Laton, at a high rate of speed. At the same time, the male driver of a 2017 GMC Sierra was traveling in the north lane of 12 3⁄4 Avenue, at a high rate of speed, directly to the right of the Dodge.

The CHP said a woman driving a 2012 Mitsubishi Galant was traveling in the south lane of 12 3⁄4 Avenue, approaching the Dodge Charger head-on when the driver of the Dodge noticed the Mitsubishi and turned right directly into the GMC Sierra.

The right side of the Dodge collided with the left side of the GMC, while the left side of the Dodge also collided with the left side of the oncoming Mitsubishi. The impact caused the Dodge and GMC Sierra to go into a dirt field west of 12 3⁄4 Avenue.

CHP said the GMC overturned ejecting the driver and two of the passengers. The driver and one of the passengers sustained fatal injuries. The remaining passenger sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno.

The drivers of the Dodge Charger and Mitsubishi sustained minor-to-no injuries and were treated on scene.

The identity or age of the men killed, and the people who were injured, was not released as of Friday.

Alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected to be factors in this crash, CHP said.
