A 13-year-old Goshen boy was killed Tuesday night when he was struck by two cars while trying to cross Highway 99 in Visalia, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The fatality occurred after the theft of beer from a nearby store, authorities reported.
The incident occurred about 8:50 p.m. in the highway’s southbound lanes near Betty Drive. The CHP said the boy and a friend climbed the highway’s fence and were running east when he was hit by a 2007 Chevrolet driven by Ruben Fuentes, 50, of Bakersfield. He was also struck by a 2013 Dodge driven by Simon Morris, 40, of Oak Grove.
The boy died at the scene. His name has not been released.
