Police arrest woman for suspected DUI after 15-year-old Parlier boy’s death
Authorities arrested a woman on suspicion of driving under the influence following the death of a 15-year-old boy from Parlier who was struck and killed by her vehicle.
The Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified the boy as Juliani Moreno. He was hit and killed by a car near Mendocino and Parlier avenues on Tuesday.
Parlier police responded to reports of a struck pedestrian about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday and found Moreno dead at the scene.
The car was driven by Tiffany Mercado, 35, of Parlier. Authorities believe Mercado was under the influence.
Mercado was booked in Fresno County Jail and faces four charges, including vehicular manslaughter and causing injury while driving under the influence.
Parlier Unified School District said Moreno attended Immanuel High School in Reedley. Parlier Unified is working with the school and the city of Parlier to offer support to people impacted by the tragedy.
