Watch: High-speed rail Q&A: Ask Merced Sun-Star, Fresno Bee reporters your question

California’s High-Speed Rail project has been in the news often over the past month.

The High-Speed Rail Authority has proposed a new location for the future Merced station in an unincorporated area away from downtown. Its newest plan says, with some more support from state lawmakers, the Central Valley segment could be completed by 2032 at a cost of $34.76 billion.

It all comes a decade after construction began in the Central Valley, and about six months after a rail authority report pitched scenarios that excluded Merced from the initial segment.

Need help making sense of it all?

On Thursday, the Merced Sun-Star’s Aysha Pettigrew and The Fresno Bee’s Erik Galicia discussed key issues and answering reader questions in a live online event.

The discussion streamed live on mercedsunstar.com, fresnobee.com and on Facebook and YouTube.
