Tree blocks vehicle from crashing into Fresno apartment after multi-car collision
A car crashed through a wrought iron fence and came close to hitting an apartment near First Street and Normal Avenue north of McKinley Avenue.
Police responded to a three-vehicle crash about 8 a.m. Tuesday morning, Fresno police Sgt. Diana Trueba Vega said.
Vega said a car traveling on First Street rear-ended a vehicle in the pocket lane waiting to turn onto Normal Avenue. This pushed the vehicle into traffic.
The motorist who was driving the car that crashed into the fence said he was traveling northbound on First Street and tried to avoid the vehicle that was pushed into traffic.
Jack Henderson, who lives in the apartment on the corner of First and Normal, said he was returning home from dropping off his wife and children when he learned of the crash.
Henderson said he was thankful no one was home and that the car didn’t crash into the living room thanks to a tree planted right next to the apartment.
Vega said the driver who was rear-ended complained of pain and was taken to a nearby hospital.
