One of the pedestrians struck by a vehicle in Madera Saturday has died and been identified.

Rosie Maria Avalos, 72, of Madera County died Wednesday after being struck while using a crosswalk with two other pedestrians, a spokesperson for the Madera County Coroner’s Office confirmed.

The Madera Police Department said the two other pedestrians are Avalos’ grandchildren, ages 9 and 10. They were released from the hospital Saturday, the same day they were admitted.

The collision happened at 2:35 p.m. at N. Granada Drive and West Cleveland Avenue.

Police said a Ford truck turned southbound onto N. Granada Drive when it struck three pedestrians as they walked in the crosswalk.

The driver remained on scene and was cooperative.

Police said drugs and alcohol were not factors in the collision.
