Anti-ICE protests and other events happening this weekend in Fresno
An anti-ICE protest is planned for this weekend in Fresno, along with other cultural events.
Many of the events have been circulating on social media pages such as Fresno Resistance and Fresno Art Events.
A protest against ICE enforcement is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday in River Park near Blackstone and Nees avenues. Peace Fresno is sponsoring the demonstration.
The 13th annual Bizarre Art Festival will also take place Saturday at Calwa Park. The event will feature local artists, vendors, and live performances. General admission is $20.
Next Saturday, Feb. 7, music lovers can head to Manchester Center for the Central Valley Record Expo, a free, family-friendly event bringing together 15 to 20 vendors from across the Central Valley. The expo, starting at 10 a.m., will feature vinyl records, CDs, cassette tapes, collectibles, memorabilia, and apparel, including crates from Tower District Records. The event will be held in collaboration with Mujeres Market, which will fill the mall with additional vendors.
A Black History Month expedition will take place on Saturday, Feb. 7 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Scarab Creative Arts Center, located at 729 E. Divisadero St. The free event will include a live music showcase featuring bass, drums, and saxophone, alongside community-centered programming honoring Black history and culture.
Later in the month, a new exhibition titled “Humanizar Historias” will open with a reception on Wednesday, Feb. 26 from 5 to 8 p.m. The exhibition, by local artist and scholar Lizbeth De la Cruz Santana, explores a community-based project that blends muralism, storytelling, and activism.
The show highlights four mural projects and the personal stories behind them, using behind-the-scenes photographs, process documentation, firsthand testimonies, and interactive elements to examine the emotional, social, and political realities of immigrant life in the United States, particularly the impacts of deportation.
