The Park Place shopping center on Palm and Nees avenues in north Fresno has added a health-focused protein shake shop and a luxurious jewelry store that is the only official Rolex dealer in the city.

The high-end store, called The Wickersham Company, moved to Park Place from its previous location at the River Park shopping center less than a mile away. Wickersham sells various types of fine jewelry in addition to Rolex watches and other Rolex products.

John Tutelian of Tutelian & Co., the firm that owns Park Place, told The Bee in a statement that the craftsmanship and materials used to build the new Wickersham location “reflects a level of quality and detail that has never been seen in this market before.”

“The opening of the Rolex store at Palm and Nees sets a new benchmark for luxury retail in Fresno,” he said Wednesday. “It’s a statement investment in Fresno and a clear signal of the city’s continued growth and sophistication.”

Wickersham owner John Abrams was not available for an interview this week. He told The Bee in late 2024 that he planned to relocate the store, adding that moving from River Park to Park Place would allow it to grow from 2,500 square feet to 7,500 square feet.

“We’re essentially building the most luxurious jewelry store in Fresno,” Abrams said then.

According to its website, Wickersham has been in the Central Valley since its opening in Bakersfield in 1901.

Abrams bought the company in 1986 and opened its Fresno location at River Park in 2013.

‘Truly healthy’ protein shakes at Park Place, discount for gym members

A Fresh Monkee location has also opened at Park Place and is offering members of the shopping center’s Gb3 gym 10% off on drinks through the end of the month.

Fresh Monkee is a protein-focused shake and smoothie shop with locations across the country. It’s Park Place location is the franchise’s second in California, according to its website.

Keith Howard, owner of the Fresno location, said Fresh Monkee shakes are “made-to-order, high-quality protein shakes.”

“Our tagline is ‘truly healthy shakes,’” he said. “At most other shops out there, protein is an afterthought. Here, it’s the first and foremost thing we put in our shakes.”

Howard’s family previously owned Jack’s Carwash on Cedar and Shepherd avenues and also a Rally’s hamburgers location.

“We sold everthing, so this is a new venture for me,” Howard said.

He said he had spent several years looking for a new franchise to bring to Fresno. After finding out a Fresh Monkee location was available last August, Howard said he traveled to meet the owners in Connecticut, where the franchise is based.

“As soon as I tried the product, I said, ‘Oh man, this is going to kill it,’” Howard said.
