With popular holiday travel days ahead, gas prices in Fresno County dropping
The holiday season is once again the most wonderful time of the year to save money on gas.
In Fresno County, drivers are paying an average price for gas of $4.017 per gallon. In November, that monthly average was $4.440 per gallon.
That’s according to data from gasbuddy.com.
And if you’re really determined to pay as little as possible at the pump, gasbuddy.com tracks the Top 10 gas stations with the cheapest fuel prices.
At the top of that list is EZ Trip/Arco at 2171 Shaw Ave. in northwest Fresno with unleaded gas selling for $3.39 per gallon.
The Costco in Clovis currently has the second-cheapest gas at $3.42 per gallon.
The annual lows are near par of what gas prices were a year ago during the holidays.
Compared to other parts of the country, though, Fresno County gas prices are more than $1 higher with the national average at $2.85 per gallon.
California’s average, however, is slightly higher than Fresno County’s at $4.30 per gallon.
So it might be best to fill up in Fresno before driving out of town rather than waiting to get to a gas station elsewhere.
Gasoline is typically cheapest during the winter when the demand decreases and temperatures cool, and retailers switch over to sell winter-blend fuel.
The winter-blend fuels are cheaper to produce.
