Minor who started Madera County fires placed on house arrest

The minor who started the John West fires last year in eastern Madera County appeared in Madera County Superior Court Monday after a petition was filed alleging a potential parole violation.

His violations involved taking pictures of and being close to the recent Willow fire, the Madera District Attorney’s Office reported.

The minor was placed on house arrest, electric monitoring and a curfew, and placed into the custody of his father and grandfather.

He is not allowed to leave his home before his next court date, on Aug. 28.
