Update: 64-year-old victim ID’d by police who was found dead in Clovis parking lot

Police have identified the victim of what was called a “suspicious death,” in the area of Ashlan and Villa avenues in Clovis.

A man was found dead in a parking lot near the Fresno County Child Protective Services building just before 3:30 a.m. Thursday, according to the Clovis Police Department, which posted about the incident later Thursday morning as detectives began their investigation.

The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 64-year-old Robert Ramage.

The investigation led detectives to a suspect in Fresno, 53-year-old Charles Gully, who was arrested without incident and booked into Fresno County Jail for manslaughter and violation of post-release community supervision.

The investigation found that both the victim and suspect were unhoused and were involved in a physical altercation in the parking lot, leading to the death of Ramage.

The homicide continues to be investigated, and police are asking anyone with information to get in contact.

Anonymous tips can be sent via the department’s tip line (559-324-2459), Valley Crime Stoppers (449-498-STOP) or via the Clovis Police App.
